The PSP 3000 is still some weeks away from being released. Sony is really pushing this iteration of the PSP to be so much more than just a mobile gaming device. With all the upgrades included in the PSP 3000 it’s hard to argue that it’s not more than just a gaming device. The question I pose though is should the PSP be more than a gaming device or is Sony missing the point of mobile gaming and just cluttering their machine with needless technology. Don’t get me wrong I am a gadget freak like the rest of you and I love tech stuff but I just don’t think that Sony has really never lived up to the original plan for the PSP to be a “gaming device”.
I am loving all the upgrades I have read about for the PSP 3000. I am loving the screen shots and video footage I have seen of the new 4:3 LCD screen this thing looks super vivid in comparison to the PSP2000. I can not wait to see some GOW on the new screen. The edition of the microphone will be good from a gaming perspective although I am going to have trouble looking to my PSP for any calls I may want to place. PSP3000 as a communication device, sorry Sony that’s not why I will be buying it.
If we get back to the other gaming and media upgrades that to me is the real meat and potatoes of the PSP and that’s where Sony needs to keep their focus on. The doubling of the memory stick and the upgrade in graphics as well as the ease at which we can move stuff from the PS3 to the PSP is really the money shot.
Only one other thing is holding up the PSP series from really dominating the market and I think we all know what that is, the lack of 3rd party support for the games! The PSP is basically a souped up version of the PS2 only mobile and when you look at the enormous library of successful games and game franchises that have not made the move to the PSP, we gamers are left standing around wondering WTF????? Granted there is some great stuff on the game market for the PSP but when you compare it to the library for the PS2 the quickly growing PS3 and the other gaming unit the DS. Games, games and more games where are all the games for my PSP Sony? What do you think of the new PSP 3000 and more importantly the quality and quantity of games available, please share your opinions and thanks for reading.
