Will we see a full on brand new PSP2 for 2009? The PSP is in need of a switch in game plan and it needs to come in the form of an all new PSP2 not another upgrade to a PSP 4000. That just will not do at this point. As each year goes by we are seeing less and less 3rd party support for the PSP and 2009 looks to continue the trend. I hope Sony is hard at work on the next PSP because if they are not they may soon find themselves on the outside of the handheld gaming market and looking in on what the Nintendo DS and Apple iPhone are doing.
First things first when it comes to the new PSP2, please oh please for the love of all that is good and holy in video gaming please stop the UMD insanity! It was a nice try Sony, trying to establish a new mini format for games and movies. Too bad no one else was into your UMD format.
Move onto a format that will be easier and cheaper for 3rd party vendors to move their games onto. Mac out the system to include a real deal phone feature ala iPhone and give the game developers access to an app store on the PSN to really blow the doors off. We know you have seen how quickly the iPhone app store has taken off for games. You really need to act quick on bringing us the next generation to a kick ass PSP2.

I agree that sony would do well to take it's plans for the next gen. portables to a further level. I highly doubt that we would see a psp2 until holidays 2010 (november or december) at the earliest. I can't see the psp2 coming out any later than 2011, but 2010 is probably the most likely.
