A PS3 Sweet Deal And A PSP Piracy Deterrent

There were a couple of bits of news that caught my eye when I was looking for a post idea for the PSP. The first was the news of an offer by Sony to pick up a new Playstation credit card. You can go to that link to see if you can get instant approval. Why would you need to get yet another credit card? Well for those of you that have not purchased a PS3 yet this would be your best opportunity to get a sweet deal on the price of either a 80Gig or 160Gig PS3. For those of you not interested in reading the fine print, here are some of the details.

First of all the final price with shipping for the 80Gig is $284 and for the 160Gig it’s $389 both of which you have to purchase through the Sony website. Oh and the interest rate on the new PlayStation card is 10.99% which is middle of the road for interest rates, nothing spectacular. Unless you would like to save a $150 dollars on your PS3 purchase.

Sony PSPThe other bit of Sony news that really struck me more as funny than anything else is that Sony felt inclined to announce that hacks of piracy against the PSP are on the decline. Hey that’s great news considering that the new PSP 3000 is selling very well over the last few months. I am sure Sony has gotten better at updating their firmware to detract hackers from getting their software. I believe the bigger deterrent in the piracy against the PSP is the lack of games that are worth hacking and pirating out. Seriously what was the last big name game to be released for the PSP? Crisis Core, God Of War…. those were released months ago! Seriously if there are no games on the market that people really want to play than the there really will be no demand for the scurvy pirates to spend anytime trying to hack the system. I guess that’s one benefit of not putting out better games, way to go Sony!

Carpe Diem!
