PS Vita Release Date Will Be?

What’s up webfolk? The last time I posted for the PSP blog I was excited to be writing about what was called at the time the NGP or Next Generation Portable from Sony now of course better known as the Sony PS Vita. Well a lot has happened since April so there is a whole bunch of stuff to consider when writing this new post.

Let me start off by saying that I am loving this new piece of gaming hardware and I can not wait to get my hands on it but that is the real question for this blogshot. When exactly will we meaning you an me be able to get our hands on that dual thumbstick mobile gaming goodness? Well if you we are to believe the latest reports and it looks like this is an official confirmation from Mr. Kaz Hirai himself that those of us that live outside the land of the rising sun will have to wait until sometime in early 2012 to get our hands on the PS Vita.

I know that most game enthusiast and business analyst were fully expecting for Sony to get this new unit into the market in time for this holiday season. Unfortunately based on the latest report that I linked you to just above here it looks like we are all wrong which is a sucky situation to say the least. Especially since Nintendo seems to be in a free fall now with all the recent mistakes they have made. The $80 dollar price drop on their newest gaming console only 4 months after it being released was a huge sign that they are in trouble. More importantly it looks like this holiday season will be a missed opportunity for Sony and the PS Vita will miss out on.

The E3 reception that the PS Vita recieved from all the press and gamer forums were all positve for the most part and it looked like this was going to be that machine to dominate the market like the PSP was never able to do. Enter in the Tsunami the PS3 hacking and finally the PSN going down and you can begin to understand why Sony appears to be slow to show. They have had to overcome a lot of adversity this year which was part of the reason why I am personally pulling for the PS Vita to be a huge success when it does arrive. I just hope that coming out almost a year after the competition will not be a repeat of recent Sony gaming decisions like all the delays of the PS3.

I have to wonder why the of all the places that they want to release the all new PS Vita first would be in Japan where the Sony PSP is still at the top of the sales charts. The sales of the PSP in Japan could probably go on for another year with out even batting an eye where as in other territories outside of Japan the PSP sales numbers are at the bottom of the charts. Whcih has got to make you wonder why of all the territories to be releasing your new mobile gaming handheld would you do it in a place where the their old unit is still selling so strong? Oh well I will just spend my time saving up my money as I wait for the eventual release of the all new Sony PS Vita.

Kudos to you peruser ;-)
